A 4-cycle small engine has one Intake Valve and one Exhaust Valve for each cylinder. The intake valves regulate the flow of the air/fuel mixture into the combustion chamber. After every complete cycle, the exhaust valves open to remove the exhaust gases from the cylinders. Worn out intake or exhaust valves won't form a tight seal when they close. This affects engine performance and fuel efficiency. On inspection, check the valves for hard deposits and uneven wear. A replacement valve will form the proper seal, bringing power and efficiency back to your engine.
