How to Replace the PTO belt on a Gravely ZT Zero Turn

The PTO belt is an extremely important part of the mower. It is the belt that gives power to the blades to the engine to make them spin.

A damaged or worn belt means your blades won't spin properly and your grass won't get cut as nicely as it should

Luckily, replacing the PTO belt is easy!

Here's How!

To Remove the PTO Belt:

Step 1:

Lower the mower deck to the ground

Step 2:

Remove the belt covers from the mower deck

Step 3:

Pull idler arm towards the outside of the until the tension is removed from the PTO belt

Step 4:

Remove the PTO belt from the left mower deck pulley

Step 5:

Slowly release the idler arm until tension is removed from the idler spring

Step 6:

Remove the PTO belt from the mower deck and engine drive pulley

 

To Install The PTO Belt:

Step 1:

Install PTO belt on engine drive pulley and mower deck (Do NOT install PTO belt on left mower deck pulley)

Step 2:

Pull the idler arm towards the outside of unit until PTO belt can be routed around the left mower deck pulley

Step 3:

Slowly release the idler arm until the pulley rests firmly against the PTO belt

Step 4:

Install the belt covers on to the mower deck

Be sure that you are regularly checking your PTO belt for any wear, tears, frays, twists or rips!

How to Replace the Mower Blades on Your Gravely ZT Zero Turn

Did you know that dull mower blades could be the culprit in a cut that just isn't very clean and sharp?

Keeping on top of your blades is important, you always want them to be sharp so you aren't compromising the quality of the cut you are getting from your mower!

Luckily, replacing your blades is easy! You will never have to worry about dull blades messing up your lawn again!

What you will need:

  • New blades
  • Wrench or Socket Wrench
  • Torque Wrench

To Remove Mower Blades:

Step 1:

Park your mower on a level surface

Step 2:

Remove the deck of your mower

Step 3:

Block the mower blade to prevent rotation

Step 4:

Remove mounting hardware and mower blades from spindles

To Install Mower Blades:

Step 1:

Install mower blades on spindles with mounting hardware

Step 2:

Torque 5/8-inch nut to 92 -130 lbf-ft (125-176 N∙m)

Its simple to replace mower blades! Be sure to check your owner's manual for specific model information and a suggested maintenance schedule!
