How to Change the Oil in a Husqvarna Tiller

Changing the oil in your tiller is a quick and easy to keep your engine running in top condition!

In case you don't know how to change the oil, here are a few steps to help you out!

 

Step 1:

Place the tiller on level ground

Step 2:

Clean the area around the oil fill plug

Step 3:

Remove the plug

Step 4:

The oil should be to the point of almost overflowing, check owner’s manual for approximate capacity

Step 5:

To remove the oil, remove the drain plug and tip the tiller forward

Step 6:

After the oil has drained completely replace the oil drain plug and tighten securely

Step 7:

Clean the area around the oil fill and remove the plug carefully-be sure not to let any dirt get into the engine

Step 8:

Using a funnel refill the engine with oil

Step 9:

Recheck the oil level to be sure it has been fueled sufficiently

Step 10:

Re-insert the plug and tighten

 

Changing the oil is a great way to keep your tiller's engine healthy!

Be sure to check your owner's manual to find out what kind of oil you need for your tiller and how often you should be changing it!

How to Remove and Replace the Tines on a Deluxe Mantis Tiller

If you need to remove your tines for maintenance, or put some new ones on, it's a very easy job!

Here are all of the steps that will help you get your tines off and replaced in no time!

To Remove the Tines:

Step 1:

Tip the tiller forward until it is resting on the carrying/bumper handle

Step 2:

The outer tines are secured by a retaining pin, remove the pin

Step 3:

Carefully pull the outer tines off of the drive shaft

Step 4:

Next carefully pull off the inner tines

 

To Replace Tines: 

Step 1:

You will notice one side has a D shaped hole and the other has a circular hole, slide the tine onto the drive shaft circular hole side first

Step 2:

Rotate the tine until the d shape hole of the hub fits onto the axle

Step 3:

Repeat with additional tines

Step 4:

Secure with a retaining pin

Helpful Hints! :

  • For tilling: Tine points face forward, away from operator
  •  For cultivating: Tine points face backwards, toward the operator

Removing and replacing the tines is easy! You should be sure to always monitor your tiller's tines for any wear or bends, if anything is detected, you should replace them to ensure proper functioning of your machine!

How to Empty the Fuel Tank on a Mantis Deluxe Tiller

If you are storing your tilled for 30 days or longer it is very important to empty the gas tank to prevent severe engine damage!

Ethanol fuel can permanently damage your engine!

Step 1:

Run the tiller until it stalls, this will burn the remaining fuel in the line

The fuel filter should be replaced every year

To do this:

Step 1:

Open the fuel cap

Step 2:

Pull out the fuel line

Step 3:

Hold fuel line and work the filter out

Step 4:

Push the new one back into the tube making sure he clapping wire is up high enough to engage with the step above the filter

Its very important to properly use ethanol fuel and to store your machine properly to prevent serious damage to the engine!
