Gravely ZT: How to Remove and Install the Mower Deck

Knowing how to properly remove, install, and maintain the parts associated with your equipment will save you unnecessary damage and wear. For the Gravely ZT and many other mowers, being able to smoothly work with the deck will save you a lot of stress.

Before servicing your mower deck, set the parking brake and make sure that all parts of the equipment have stopped moving. Stop the ignition and take out the key. Disconnect the spark plug wire and place it away from the spark plug.

It is extremely important to wear proper protective clothing such as safety glasses/goggles and gloves while working around blades and power equipment in general.

Removal

  • Step 1: Remove the PTO belt.
  • Step 2: Disconnect the drag link from the front deck bracket.
  • Step 3: Detach the trunnions on the front and rear of the lift arms on both sides by removing the 3/8 nuts. Be sure to keep all hardware that you've removed.
  • Step 4: Slide the deck out of the bottom of the unit.

Installation

  • Step 1: Slide the mower deck underneath the unit.
  • Step 2: Connect the drag link to the front deck bracket.
  • Step 3: Attach the trunnions on the front and rear of the lift arms on both sides using 3/8 nuts.
  • Step 4: Install the PTO belt onto the engine drive pulley.

Husqvarna Fast Tractor: How to Remove the Mower Deck

Before servicing your tractor or mower deck, set the parking brake and make sure that the attachment clutch is set to “DISENGAGED”. Stop the ignition and take out the key. Be sure that all parts of the equipment have stopped moving. Disconnect the spark plug wire and place it away from the spark plug.

  • Step 1: Set the attachment lift lever to its lowest position.
  • Step 2: Disengage the belt tension rod from the lock bracket.
  • Step 3: Take the mower belt off of the electric clutch pulley.
  • Step 4: Detach the front link from the mower. Remove the retainer spring and washer.
  • Step 5: On either side of the mower, disconnect the suspension arm from the chassis and the rear lift link from the rear mower bracket. Remove the retainer spring and washers.
  • Step 6: On the opposite side of the mower, detach the suspension arm and rear lift link.
  • Step 7: Disconnect the anti-sway bar from the right rear mower bracket and remove the retainer spring and washer. Bring the mower toward the right side of the tractor until the bar falls from the hole.
  • Step 8: Turn the steering wheel as far to the left as it will go.
  • Step 9: Slide the mower out of the right side of the tractor.

How to Remove and Replace the Blade on a Honda Trimmer/Brush Cutter Combo

If you ever need to remove your blades for repair or need to switch what type of blade you are using, you will need to know how to remove and replace them, in case you don't know, here is how!

To Remove:

Step 1:

Install the protective plastic blade cover that came with your blade (U-type brush/wood blade only)

Step 2:

Insert a 4mm hex tool fully into the gear case

Step 3:

Turn the blade until you feel the tool drop into the hole in the cover place/spacer

Step 4:

Verify the blade does not turn, the output shaft and blade lock nut have a left-hand thread, make sure the tool remains in the hole, then loosen the blade nut as shown, pay attention to the order of and orientation of parts as they are removed

To Install:

Step 1:

Installation is exactly the reverse of the removal

Step 2:

Install the blade with the cutting edges in the direction of rotation, be sure to align the hole in the blade with the shoulder on the cover plate/spacer

Step 3:

Tighten the blade nut to the specified torque, this can be found in your owner’s manual

 

Always consult your owner's manual for specific information about your model of trimmer, such as the blade size and the amount of torque you will need to replace your blade!

How to Remove and Replace the Tines on a Deluxe Mantis Tiller

If you need to remove your tines for maintenance, or put some new ones on, it's a very easy job!

Here are all of the steps that will help you get your tines off and replaced in no time!

To Remove the Tines:

Step 1:

Tip the tiller forward until it is resting on the carrying/bumper handle

Step 2:

The outer tines are secured by a retaining pin, remove the pin

Step 3:

Carefully pull the outer tines off of the drive shaft

Step 4:

Next carefully pull off the inner tines

 

To Replace Tines: 

Step 1:

You will notice one side has a D shaped hole and the other has a circular hole, slide the tine onto the drive shaft circular hole side first

Step 2:

Rotate the tine until the d shape hole of the hub fits onto the axle

Step 3:

Repeat with additional tines

Step 4:

Secure with a retaining pin

Helpful Hints! :

  • For tilling: Tine points face forward, away from operator
  •  For cultivating: Tine points face backwards, toward the operator

Removing and replacing the tines is easy! You should be sure to always monitor your tiller's tines for any wear or bends, if anything is detected, you should replace them to ensure proper functioning of your machine!
