Replacing the Blade on a Husqvarna Lawn Mower

Keep your mower blades sharp to give your lawn a cleaner cut and to keep your lawn healthy. This video shows you how to safely remove and install a Husqvarna mower blade.

Recommended Tools: socket wrench/torque wrench, safety gloves, Blade Lock Tool or block of wood.

Step 1:

Disconnect the spark plug

Step 2:

Tip mower on it's side

Step 3:

Use a block of wood to wedge between the blade and deck to keep the blade from moving

Step 4:

Use a socket wrench to remove the blade bolt, take note of how the blade is installed so you can re-install it

Step 5:

Remove the old blade and install the new one onto the blade adapter

Step 6:

Thread the bolt back in

Step 7:

Place wood on the other side of the blade to hold it steady, then tighten the bolt to the manufacturer's suggested torque

Recommended Tools: Socket wrench/torque wrench, safety gloves, blade lock tool or block of wood.

Step 1:

Disconnect the spark plug before servicing your mower

Step 2:

Tip the mower on its side so the carburetor and air filter are facing up

Step 3:

Position a piece of wood between the blade and the deck to prevent the blade from moving

Step 4:

Remove the blade bolt with a socket wrench

Step 5:

Take not to how the blade is positioned before removing it, then remove the bolt and the bolt, blade adapter, and blade.

Step 6:

Put the blade adapter bracket onto the new blade and insert the blade bolt

Step 7:

Attach the blade back onto the mower and block the blades

Step 8:

Tighten the blade bolt with a socket wrench or torque wrench to the manufacturer's recommendations

Recommended Tools: Socket wrench/torque wrench, safety gloves, blade lock tool or block of wood.

Step 1:

Disconnect the spark plug

Step 2:

Tip the mower on it's side, be sure the air filter and carburetor are facing up

Step 3:

Clamp the blade lock tool to the side of the mower deck, this will prevent the blade from rotating during removal

Step 4:

Loosen the blade bolt with a socket wrench, then remove the the bolt and the washer, before removing the blade take notice to how they are positioned, then remove the blade.

Step 5:

Insert the blade bolt into the new blade and attach it back onto the blade adapter

Step 6:

Once the bolt is threaded, tighten it with the socket wrench, or preferably a torque wrench (see owner's manual for suggested amount of torque), once tightened, remove the blade lock device

Step 1:

Tip mower on it's side being sure that the air filter and carburetor are facing up

Step 3:

Wedge a  piece of wood between the blade and deck, then unscrew the blade bolts with a socket wrench, once they are loose, thread them out by hand

Step 4:

Position the two new blades together properly and thread in the bolts

Step 5:

Block the blades with the wood again and use a socket wrench to tighten the bolts
