How to Operate Your Husqvarna 48 Inch Snow Blade

Be familiar with how to properly position and operate your Husqvarna 48 inch snow blade. Remember to read and understand the owner's manual included with your snow blade to learn how to properly install your snow blade and for relevant safety information.

Operating and Positioning the Blade

  1. Locate the handle grip on the end of the handle tube.
  2. Pull the handle grip back towards you while pushing down the handle to raise the blade up.
  3. Pull the handle grip back towards you while lifting the handle up to lower the blade.
  4. Raise the blade up into the transport position to unlock the blade.
  5. To pivot the blade, start by pushing the lock release grip against the the tube handle.
  6. Keep the grip held and push the handle tube either forward or back to slide it along the lift rod.
  7. Release the grip to lock the blade in place when it is in the desired position.

Using the Blade

  1. Prepare and start your engine for cold weather conditions according to your engine's owner's manual.
  2. Start with the transmission in first (low). Increase your speed gradually if needed.
  3. Use the blade to push snow in different directions to result excessive snow build up in the same location.
  4. Reduce icing on the blade by allowing your tractor and blade to adjust to the temperature in the operating area.
  5. Coat the blade in automotive type paste wax to improve snow removal performance of your snow blade.

Husqvarna Fast Tractor: How to Use the Deck Washout Port

Your Husqvarna Fast Tractor is equipped with a deck washing system that should be utilized as often as possible. A clean deck will allow your equipment to last longer and be used much more efficiently. Dirty/clogged decks are some of the most common causes of low performance and part failure.

  • Step 1: Park your tractor on a level surface that is within reach of a spigot.
  • Step 2: Set the attachment clutch control to the “DISENGAGED” position. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.
  • Step 3: Place the nozzle adapter onto your garden hose.
  • Step 4: Pull back the lock mechanism on the nozzle adapter, push the adapter onto the deck washout port and release the lock mechanism to lock the adapter in place.
  • Step 5: Gently pull on the hose to make sure that it is securely connected to the washout port.
  • Step 6: Turn the water on. Sit in the operator’s seat and start the engine. Put the throttle control to the fast (rabbit) position.
  • Step 7: Engage the attachment clutch control. Stay on the tractor until the deck is sufficiently cleaned.
  • Step 8: When the deck is clean, set the attachment clutch control back to the “DISENGAGED” position. Turn the ignition key to “STOP” and turn the engine off.
  • Step 9: Turn the water off.
  • Step 10: Pull back the locking mechanism on the nozzle adapter and disconnect it from the washout port.
  • Step 11: Bring the tractor to a dry area and engage the attachment clutch control to rid the equipment of excess water.

Husqvarna Fast Tractor: How to Replace the Battery

Don’t allow a wrench or any other object to touch both terminals at the same time. Be sure to remove any metal jewelry before working with the battery. Connect the positive terminal first to prevent sparking.

  • Step 1: Bring the hood up to the raised position.
  • Step 2: Remove the terminal cover.
  • Step 3: Disconnect the black cable followed by the red cable. Once both cables are disconnected, take note of the position of the battery and then remove it from the tractor.
  • Step 4: Install the new battery so that it is in the same position as the old battery.
  • Step 5: Reinstall the terminal cover.
  • Step 6: Connect the red battery cable to the positive (+) battery terminal with nut and bolt and tighten it securely. Next, connect the black grounding cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with remaining nut and bolt and tighten it securely.
  • Step 7: Close the hood.

Husqvarna Fast Tractor: How to Replace the Deck Drive Belt

Before replacing or adjusting any belts, park your tractor on a level surface and engage the parking brake. There is a belt installation guide on the bottom side of the left footrest.

Belt Removal

  • Step 1: Have your tractor parked on a level surface with the parking brake engaged.
  • Step 2: Set the attachment lift lever to its lowest position.
  • Step 3: Disengage the belt tension rod from the lock bracket.
  • Step 4: Remove the screws from the mandrel covers and remove the covers.
  • Step 5: Clean dirt/grass out from around the mandrels and on the deck.
  • Step 6: Take a picture of the way the belt is routed and positioned to help with the installation of the new belt.
  • Step 7: Carefully remove the belt from the electric clutch pulley, the mandrel pulleys, and the idler pulleys.

Belt Installation

  • Step 1: Using your picture, install the belt properly around the mandrel pulleys and idler pulleys. Then, install the belt onto the electric clutch pulley.
  • Step 2: Check to make sure that the belt is properly routed and positioned.
  • Step 3: Assemble the mandrel covers. Insert the screws and tighten them.
  • Step 4: Engage the belt tension rod on the locking bracket.
  • Step 5: Bring the attachment lift lever up to its highest position.

Husqvarna Fast Tractor: How to Replace the Motion Drive Belt

Before replacing or adjusting any belts, park your tractor on a level surface and engage the parking brake. There is a belt installation guide on the bottom side of the left footrest.

Belt Removal

  • Step 1: Remove the mower.
  • Step 2: Take a picture of the motion drive belt before removing it to help you install the new belt.
  • Step 3: Remove the belt from the stationary idler, the clutching idler, and the centerspan idler.
  • Step 4: Bring the belt slack toward the back of the tractor and remove the belt upwards from the transaxle input pulley.
  • Step 5: Remove the belt downward from the engine pulley.
  • Step 6: Move the belt toward the back of the tractor, off the steering plate, and off of the tractor.

Belt Installation

  • Step 1: Install the new belt onto the tractor starting from the back and working towards the front. Bring it over the steering plate and above the clutch brake pedal shaft.
  • Step 2: Pull the belt toward the front of the tractor and roll it onto the engine pulley
  • Step 3: Bring the belt back toward the rear of the tractor. Put it around the transaxle input pulley. Make sure it’s inside the belt keeper.
  • Step 4: Install it onto the centerspan idler, then through the stationary idler and the clutching idler.
  • Step 5: Check to make sure that the belt is seated and routed properly in all of the pulley grooves, belt guides, and keepers.
  • Step 6: Reinstall the mower.
