Replacing the Skid Shoes on an Ariens Two Stage Snow Blower

The skid shoes slide along the ground to protect the sides of the auger housing from damage. They also allow you to adjust the clearance between the scraper blade and the ground.

Step 1:

Remove the ignition key

Step 2:

Tilt the blower back so it’s resting on it’s handles

Step 3:

Remove the bolts holding the scraper blade to auger housing

Step 4:

Remove the bottom bolts on the skid shoes

Step 5:

Slide new scraper blade onto auger housing over the holes

Step 6:

Re-install the bolts into the scraper bar
