Husqvarna Z Series Mowers: How to Adjust the Mower Deck
Is your mower cutting your grass unevenly? It’s possible that you may need to adjust the height of your mower deck. This is just another tidbit of knowledge that will allow you to better understand and operate your mower.
Read your owner’s manual for information regarding safety procedures and recommended maintenance schedules. It is extremely important to follow proper safety precautions while working with power equipment and blades in particular.
Wear heavy gloves while adjusting the height of your mower deck or doing any work pertaining to blades.
- Step 1: Line up the two outer blade tips so that the front and rear of the blades are aligned with the right and left sides of the mower deck.
- Step 2: Measure from the floor to the tip of the blade that’s on the discharge side of the deck. Save the measurement.
- Step 3: Measure the distance between the floor and the opposite blade next. Make sure it’s the same as the first measurement. If they are different, use a ¾’’ or adjustable wrench to turn the lift link adjustment nuts on either side. Counter clockwise turning lowers and clockwise turning raises. Adjust the height until the measurements on either side of the deck are the same.
- Step 4: Turn one outer blade so that it is aligned front to back with the mower deck.
- Step 5: Measure the front of the blade tip to the ground and the rear of the blade tip to the ground. Make sure the front blade tip measures 1/8’’ to ½’’ lower than the rear. If it does not, use a 5/8 or adjustable wrench to turn the nuts on the front suspension linkage. Clockwise raises the front, counter clockwise lowers the front.
