How to Use an Oil Extractor

Do you dread knowing your next oil change is approaching? Knowing you have to tip your equipment, or raise it up and then waiting for all of the oil to drain out of the drain hole. What a pain!

If this sounds like you, you may want to invest in an oil extractor. Oil extractors allow you to remove the oil from the engine without having to drain it. Some oil extractors run with an engine, others use good old fashion man power. Here is exactly how to use an oil extractor to change your oil using a hand-pump extractor!

Step 1:

Remove the oil filler tube cap.

Step 2:

Insert the tube into the oil filler tube.

Step 3:

Pump the oil extractor, this will suck the oil out of the engine, through the hose, and into the container.

Step 4:

Dispose of the oil appropriately.

Helpful Tips:

• Change the oil while the engine is warm (not hot)
• Have rags ready, spills are always a possibility
• Have your new oil ready ahead of time
• Have other containers ready just in case there is more oil than will fit in the extractor container.
