How to Change the Spark Plug on a Toro Recycler Self-Propelled Mower

Changing Spark Plugs — one of the cheapest and easiest fixes to solve engine problems.

Whether you just need a refresher on spark plug maintenance, or have never even heard of a spark plug, here is a guide that will tell you what to look for with your spark plug and how to replace them if necessary.

What you will need: 

  • Toro Walk Behind Mower
  • New Spark Plug
  • Spark Plug Gap Gauge
  • Spark Plug Wrench or Deep Socket Wrench
  • Torque Wrench

 

Step 1:

Remove the spark plug wire.

Step 2:

Using a spark plug wrench, remove the spark plug.

Step 3:

Check the gap on your new spark plug with a gap tool.

Step 4:

Install the new spark plug and torque it to the amount specified in your owner’s manual.

Your owner’s manual is the best place to find out what size spark plug you need and how often you should change it.

Remember, if you are having engine problems, always check the spark plugs!
