How to Change the Oil in a Husqvarna RZ Zero Turn
Do you know how often you need to change the oil in a zero turn?
The first oil change should take place after just 5-8 hours of use. However, after that initial change it is recommended to only change it after every 50 hours.
Just in case you forgot how to change the oil, or have never done it before, here is a guide to help you out!
Things you will need:
- Husqvarna Zero Turn Mower
- Container (for old oil)
- A cloth (to wipe up any spillage)
- Oil
- A new oil filter
Step 1:
Place the mower on a flat surface.
Step 2:
Place a container under the engine where the hose from the oil drain valve exits.
Step 3:
Remove the dipstick.
Step 4:
Loosen the cap plug.
Step 7:
Remove the cap plug and allow the oil to run out into the container.
Step 8:
Replace the cap plug and tighten.
Step 9:
Remove the oil filter by rotating it counter clockwise and be certain the oil drain pan is below the oil filter.
Step 10:
Install the new oil filter and tighten per manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 11:
Pour new oil into the oil fill spout, be sure that your oil, and how much you are putting in, is in accordance with the owner’s manual!
Step 12:
Replace Dipstick.
Step 13:
Start engine and run it for a few seconds.
Step 14:
Stop and re-check the oil level.
Step 15:
If your oil level read correctly on the dipstick, replace it and you are good to go! If it did not read “full” add a small amount of oil, run the engine a few seconds and check again, repeat this until you reach the full mark on the dipstick.
Once your dipstick reads “full” you are good to get on your way! Happy Mowing!
