How to Change the Engine Oil of Your Troy-Bilt Pony Riding Lawn Tractor (Briggs & Stratton Engine Model)
Keep your engine properly lubricated and protected by ensuring that your engine oil is both full and fresh. Refer to your engine’s manual for the proper amount and volume of oil that should be used.
Before servicing any power equipment, follow the safety instructions laid out in your owner’s manual. Make sure the equipment is completely stopped, cooled down, and that no parts are moving before attempting to service your equipment.
- Step 1: Run the engine for a few minutes so it warms up. This will allow the oil to flow more freely.
- Step 2: Open the hood of your tractor.
- Step 3: On the right side of your engine, find the oil drain port.
- Step 4: Open the cap on the oil drain valve.
- Step 5: Remove the oil filling cap/dipstick from the tube.
- Step 6: Place the small side of the drain sleeve onto the drain plug.
- Step 7: Remove the drain plug and drain the oil into a container that is holding at least 64 oz. of oil.
- Step 8: Reinstall the drain plug.
- Step 9: Refill with new oil.
