How to Replace the Impeller on a Billy Goat KV

The following instructions are for the Billy Goat KV Vacuum, which is for the KV600 and KV650H models. Before attempting to work on/with your equipment in any way, always refer to your owner's manual for safety information.

  1. Wait for the engine to cool and disconnect the spark plug.
  2. Drain fuel and oil from the engine.
  3. Remove the bag, quick release, and upper handle. Do not kink, stretch, or break control cables, control housings, or end fittings while removing handles.
  4. Remove the housing top plate by removing bolts around the outside of the housing.
  5. Leaving the engine fastened to the top plate, turn it upside down so that the impeller is on top.
  6. Remove the impeller bolt, lock washer, and washer.
  7. Lift the impeller upward, if the impeller proceed to (step 10).
  8. Place two crowbars between the impeller and housing on opposite sides. Pry the impeller away from the engine until it loosens. Using a penetrating oil can help loosen a stuck impeller.
  9. If the impeller does not loosen, use two pry bars and pull the impeller near the hub away from the engine, this should loosen it and allow you to remove the impeller from the shaft. Using a penetrating oil can help loosen a stuck impeller.
  10. Using a new impeller bolt, lock washer, and washer, reinstall the new impeller in reverse order.
  11. Tighten the impeller bolt. Torque the impeller bolt to 33-38 Ft. Lbs. (44-51 N.m).
  12. Reinstall the engine onto the housing in reverse order of removal.
  13. Fuel up with gas and oil.
  14. Reinstall the spark plug wire.

How to Operate the Debris Bag on a Billy Goat KV

The following instructions are for the Billy Goat KV Vacuum, which is for the KV600 and KV650H models. Before attempting to work on/with your equipment in any way, always refer to your owner's manual for safety information.

  1. Note: Frequently empty debris to prevent the bag from overloading with more weight than you can lift.
  2. Do not place the bag on or near a hot surface, such as the engine. Be sure the engine has come to a complete stop before removing or emptying the bag.
  3. Run the machine at idle to quarter throttle.
  4. The debris bag must be cleaned more frequently. A vacuum with a clean, pillow soft bag will have a good pickup performance. Having a dirty, tight bag will cause poor pickup performance. If its dirty, empty the the debris and vigorously shake the bag free of dust.
  5. Pressure-wash the debris bag if normal cleaning does not fully clean the bag. The bag should be thoroughly dry before using.
  6. Note: Having one or more spare debris bags is a good way to reduce down time while the dirty bags are being cleaned. DO NOT leave debris in the bag while in storage.

How to Operate the Vacuum on a Billy Goat KV

  1. Vacuum Nozzle Height Adjustment: The nozzle height is raised and lowered by rotating the red knob near the left rear wheel. The nozzle height should be adjusted based on the task being performed.
  2. For Maximum Pickup: Adjust the nozzle close to the debris, but without blocking the airflow into the nozzle.
  3. Note: Never bury the nozzle into debris.
  4. Clearing a Clogged Nozzle & Exhaust: Turn the engine off and wait for the impeller to stop completely and disconnect the spark plug wire. Wearing durable gloves, remove the clog.
  5. Danger: The clog may contain sharp materials, reconnect the spark plug wire.

How to Install an LED Light Kit on Your Husqvarna Zero Turn Mower

The following instructions are for the Husqvarna #587 49 51-01 LED light kit, which is for the Zero Turn (Z Series) Mowers. Before attempting to install this kit or work on/with your equipment in any way, always refer to your owner's manual for safety information.

  1. Flip the seat assembly forward.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
  3. Remove the single retaining knob for the foot pan.
  4. Remove the foot pan assembly.
  5. Remove the front skid plate by unscrewing the three retaining bolts.
  6. Slide the assembly rearward to disengage from the chassis.
  7. Attach the LED module to the new skid plate with supplied #10 screws. Do not over-tighten.
  8. Insert the center groove of the two rubber grommets into the two side slots of the skid plate.
  9. Insert the center groove of the adjustment bolt into the rear slot of the skid plate.
  10. Slide the supplied 5/16 x 1.25 bolts through the rubber grommets.
  11. Thread the 5/16 x 1.25 bolts, as well as adjusting them, into the chassis until their on tight.
  12. Using a wrench or socket, continue to tighten the front two screws just enough to remove space between the bolt heads, grommets, and chassis. Do not over-tighten.
  13. Move to the rear adjustment bolt and tighten it with two full turns.

Note: The headlight assembly should now feel secure without any "wobble" or looseness. The front bolts can be further tightened slightly if they're still loose.

  1. Attach the harness to the LED headlight assembly, route the harness under the floorboard and up to the harness/battery area under the driver's seat.
  2. Attach the LED harness to the frame under the floorboard with the attached clips, ensure that it doesn't droop or come close to the deck or other moving parts.
  3. Working from beneath the seat area, route the harness across and under the seat support, ensuring that the harness does not engage any moving components.
  4. Locate the accessory pigtail on the mower's wiring harness and plug in the light harness.
  5. Secure the harness to the chassis with the christmas tree fastener that is attached to the light harness.
  6. Double check that the harness doesn't have any contact with moving components.
  7. Reattach the negative cable to the battery and check for proper operation of the headlight.

Note: The pitch of the headlight can be adjusted up or down slightly by tightening or loosening the adjusting bolt. This will regulate how close or far away the light is projected.
