How to Replace the PTO Belt on a Simplicity Broadmoor Lawn Tractor
Keeping your belts in good condition will help keep your mower in good condition!
You may realize there is a problem with your PTO belt but maybe you aren’t sure how to replace it. If that is the case, or you just want to make sure you are using the right technique, here is how you should go about replacing your PTO belt!
What you will need:
- Simplicity Broadmoor Lawn Tractor
- New PTO Belt
- Socket Set
Remember! Always Check your owner’s manual for model specific information!
Step 1:
Park your mower on a level surface.
Step 2:
Disengage the PTO.
Step 3:
Turn off your mower’s engine.
Step 4:
Engage the parking break.
Step 5:
Remove the key from your mower.
Step 6:
Remove the mower deck. Read How to Remove the Deck.
Step 7:
Remove screws and cover for the left blade spindle.
Step 8:
Move the idler arm to remove belt tension.
Step 9:
Remove belt from PTO pulley.
Step 10:
Remove the old belt.
Step 11:
Install the new belt.
Step 12:
Pull the idler pulley lever to install belt on the idler pulley.
Step 13:
Make sure the “v” side of the belt runs in the pulley grooves.
Step 14:
Reinstall screws and cover for left blade spindle.
Step 15:
Install the mower deck. Read How to Install the Deck.
It’s relatively easy to change the PTO belt, so be sure that you check it regularly for any signs of wear such as twists, tears or dry rot!
Remember, never pry belts or pulleys as you could seriously damage your mower!
